A dosa is a thin pancake originating from South India, made from a fermented batter predominantly consisting of black gram and rice. The finely ground rice and gram are mixed with water and salt to form smooth batter which is then fermented. Dosas are a common dish in South Indian cuisine, but have become popular all over the Indian subcontinent. Dosas are served hot, often with chutney and sambar.
